It was first officially settled in 1657 by Thomas Rogers and has since been promoted as a tourist destination. The downtown Old Orchard Beach contains many tourist oriented businesses including souvenir shops, beach residential properties, condominiums, motels and beds and breakfasts.

With over 25 rides and attractions including the giant arcade, beautiful carousel, kiddieland, Gondola Ferris Wheel and Galaxi Coaster, the play land has everything to keep the smaller kids busy during their vacation. If the kids want more fun and amusement, take them to Funtown/Splashtown. It is within the walking distance from Old Orchard Beach.
